I never found one scripture to back up an earthly resurrection. The scriputre they use most often is the one about the righteous inheriting the earth, but never a resurrection to said earth.

Is the resurrection heavenly or earthly?
by jwfacts ini was looking for scriptures that discuss the heavenly resurrection, and did a google search on "heavenly resurrection".
to my surprise almost all links were discussing the beliefs of jehovah's witnesses.
apparently christians simply discuss the resurrection, specify it as a "heavenly resurrection" is very much watchtower terminology.

I went once to please a family member. It was the most boring and miserable crisis of concience I had ever experienced. I never felt so at odds with anything before in my life. I will never pack or wear a dress again unless I actually want to. I don't, so probably won't. I won't I won't I won't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Major doctrines and practices based on a single scriptural verse?!
by Mickey mouse inthe more i think about this the more crazy it seems.
two issues in particular are "the light getting brighter" and "the faithful and discreet slave".
both are huge concepts for jw's, yet both are essentially based on a single verse in the bible which clearly has a different meaning when you read the context.. why did i never see this?!

One other thing about the baker's head being cut off: Don't JW's propagate the notion that the superior authorities are placed in their respective positions by God? That is in scripture, so the pha-ro(sic) was within his god given rights to execute his servant. It never said the reasons for the execution. I would have executed him too if he tried to poison me. Hmm...I wonder if that is why or if the baker was not obedient to the king, or if he was involved in a conspiracy like julius Ceasar. Having fun here:)

Now that I'm out, I can point to twice and thrice as many scriptures to refute them as they can throw at me to support them.
Birthdays are bad because murders happened at them and no where else are birthdays mentioned.
My answer: Angels and shephards celebrated the birth of Jesus. By the way, his second birthday was celebrated and gifts were given (though not very practical gifts for a two year old).
My answer: Murder tends to make the person look bad, not the setting or day of the murder.
My answer: The people involved were famous people of the Bible: Joseph read a dream by God and John the Baptist died. I would say that those two events no matter the setting were very Bible worthy to write down.
My answer: The culture/condition of Bible times was that the average person could not afford to have an elaborate party for birthdays or anything else as the Romans really were jerks that oppressed the people and there was a famine going on in Egypt. Only royals and nobles could afford such a thing.
Pagan connections to birthday parties?
My answer: Then stop wearing a white wedding dress, ring, and carrying flowers in the ceremony. Oh, and no veils!
My answer: Colosians 2:16 and Romans 14:5 and the one about busybodies meddling in other peoples' affairs.
So, you see that when someone leaves, they become better at using their Bible:)

My grandparents and mother were the only ones to discourage me from persuing a degree because of bad associations. The thing is that what are people exposed to at work, good association? It never made sense to me that school was OK and college was baaaaaad. There is no logic in that.

Why I will NEVER be an elder again
by stillajwexelder inso the po confirmed what many on this board already know.
at latest round of co to elders meeting, the co quoted from the society outline.
any elder or ms who encourages college for his kids or others or who allows his children to go to college will no longer qualify.. he then asked if i was going to take the cos encouragement and reach out again to be an elder and get my hours on the ministry up.. i replied "i will never be an elder again - i strongly approve of further education and college and have been through college myself.

I see JW's living in the streets or in their parents' basements for the rest of their lives because the demand for qualified secular workers is just going to keep going up and up and up. I don't see the world backstepping and making a hs diploma good enough. A BA is barely good enough now in the humanities field.

ARE YOU AN INTELLECTUAL? Why not?
by Terry ini think i heard the word "intellectual" for the first time when i was less than ten years old.. my grandmother said to me that the presidential candidate for the democratic party (adalai stevenson) was an "intellectual".. the way she said the word...the timbre of her voice...the look of admiration on her face...led me to believe this was a good thing indeed!.
i think i may have asked her what the word meant, but, i don't recall exactly what she told me.
perhaps enough to confirm that this fellow stevenson was a "thinker" of admirable stature.. fast forward.. by the time my teen years came along there was a kind of dichotomy in society between so-called "eggheads" and common folk.

Yes, and it took only one critical thinking college class to turn me into one. That class taught me to think for myself. Since then, I've read about 1/2 of the Bible without blinders and my life took a U-turn.

Why do you put up with crap off your JW famlies?
by dawg ini see where many of you have jw family members that give you a ration of crap once in a while; i've heard many rationalizations as to why some of you refuse to speak out.
as many of you know, i wrote a series of letters and exposed my apostasy formerly; in the letters i told my family they had better beware of shunning me of treating me like a pile when they run into me, i realized that i couldn't make them accept me into their houses, but in public was a different matter.
i basically told them that in public, especially at funerals, that i would rain down a load of crap on any family member that shunned me or treated me badly in anyway.

That's exactly it. Prematurely coming out of the aposta-closet to family and friends would be like going into a gunfight without a gun. They are going to demand reasons and proof. I want ammo that will take them down in one shot. Just can't do it yet or fast and in their faces.
